  • The Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada connects, resources and elevates the Canadian commercial real estate industry. We provide a wide range of services to our membership including education, thought leadership, research, standard setting, advocacy, networking, certification, celebration and fun.
  • A national not-for-profit organization with a strong business culture, our organization is comprised of over 3,500 members and eleven independent local associations. Representing over two billion square feet of commercial space, BOMA members include building owners, developers, facility managers, asset managers, property managers, building operators, leasing agents, brokers, investors and service providers. Members represent large and small Canadian and international commercial real estate firms and vendors into the industry. Our stakeholders extend beyond the formal membership to include government, other industry associations, other non-profits, charities, partners in other countries and more.

  • The growing BOMA Canada staff is a dynamic team of self-starters numbering close to a dozen and is headquartered in downtown Toronto. Currently we have adopted a hybrid work model because of COVID-19, with our staff being in the office once or twice a week and working from home the rest of the time. Our working language is English, but we provide services in French and, increasingly, in Spanish.
About BOMA BEST
Our flagship program is BOMA BEST, Canada’s leading sustainability certification for existing commercial real estate. For the past 5 years we have invested significant time and resources into BOMA BEST which has resulted in an impressive growth trajectory. We are currently in the process or redeveloping both the platform and content to offer an expanded suite of services. Seeking to capitalize on this success and expected new growth and with a view to growing and diversifying organizational revenue, we are currently considering various expansion possibilities, too.

Responsibilities 
  • Administrative assistance for all tasks related to the BOMA BEST program
  • Tracking of BOMA BEST building registrations
  • Scheduling and following up on verifications with property owners and managers and our third-party verifiers
  • Liaise with our finance team to ensure timely & accurate invoicing and revenue collection
  • Ongoing updating of property, company, contact and certification records in the BOMA Canada proprietary database
  • Coordinate the issuance of certificates and congratulatory letters with third-party vendors across the country
  • Ongoing monitoring of the BOMA BEST Online Portal for accuracy
  • Respond to user queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Follow up with team members on any deliverables and projects

This role is flexible, and duties may change as you develop within it. Changes are dependent on the ever-changing needs of a rapidly growing business.

Qualifications
  • University degree/college diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Two years or more of relevant customer service and/or administrative experience
  • Knowledge of building certifications such as BOMA BEST, LEED, WELL, Fitwel is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills with some proficiency in French is an asset. Proficiency in Spanish (ability to converse, read and write basic emails) is an asset.
  • Strong foundation in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong client services skills and positive attitude
  • Ability to work constructively and positively in a team environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Resourceful, self-started, innovative and responsive to change
  • Calm under pressure and strong ability to prioritize
  • Strong collaborator and team player who will help regardless of the focus of an assignment
  • Passion for sustainability, community building and public service
The Fine Print
  • Your compensation includes a competitive base component in addition to a discretionary, variable component to reward you for reaching your goals.
  • You will also be eligible to participate in retirement savings program whereby BOMA Canada will match your RRSP contributions up to five percent of your base salary.
  • BOMA Canada also offers a generous, high-end benefits package for its employees.
  • In addition to ample vacation, BOMA Canada also typically shuts down for the winter holiday period (though some year-end work can occur then); we close early on Fridays from Victoria Day to Labour Day, if the workload permits; etc.
  • Our organization has an informal culture and has adopted a hybrid work environment, with some flexibility to work from both home and from our downtown Toronto office.
