About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Business Performance Lead to join our Stem Cells team. The work of a Business Performance Lead is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Lifeline.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, corporate reporting, environmental scans and comparisons, data management and analysis, and project scope assessments. You will work closely with the operations and planning & compliance teams to achieve defined objectives in accordance with established performance goals. Additionally, you will collaborate with Relationship Management Associate and other internal stakeholders ensuring the incorporation of relevant information in the creation of plans while comparing and analyzing historical trends.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provides professional planning support for decision makers including systematic and ongoing review of the external environment, trend and situational analysis, identification of challenges and opportunities, assessment of internal strengths and weaknesses, conducts organizational and analytical studies and projects, analyses and interprets external and internal information, and makes forecasts, estimates, projections and recommendations.
  • Applies extensive knowledge of policy and program and delivers on all reporting and analytics requests, ensures the quality of reports and analytics, and that analytical support tools are created to meet business needs.
  • Ensures that process performance monitoring metrics are developed and monitors the KPIs, dashboards and benchmarking for the Stem Cell program.
  • Manages and oversees all stem cell committees and corporate reporting initiatives to improve operational compliance and effectiveness.
  • Liaises with Donor Experience, Donor Relations, Marketing, and Communications to understand historical data, statistical forecasts and market intelligence. Collaborates with customer facing teams to understand demand projections and assumptions/evidence as required.
  • Establishes, monitors, and develops metrics as needed and collaborate with other senior leaders to drive improvements in Stem Cells planning metrics.
  • Manages preparation, review and dissemination of stem cell management and corporate performance reporting.
  • Ensures issues that could impact demand and supply are documented and shared and adjustment made as needed.
  • Monitors recruitment operations against the defined recruitment targets and identifies tracks, communicates and/or escalates any identified issues. Provides advice and information to Stem Cells, Donor Relations, and Marketing on trends/areas requiring analysis/mitigation.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics or Business Administration at the graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in planning/forecasting and/or data/information management and statistical analysis, report design/layout, and testing/data validation.
  • Experience working directly with medical data and analytics would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities, urgent issues and complex business problems.
  • Strong client interfacing skills and ability to effectively interact with a wide range of teams and senior leaders.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze information including translating analytics into meaningful strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of database management, Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, web-based technology, working knowledge of VBA and SQL would be an asset.
  • Experience with managing budgets effectively would be an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills in English (French is considered an asset).
  • Excellent presentation and group facilitation skills. The ability to communicate with staff, partners and stakeholders both within and external to the organization in a collaborative, consultative and positive manner.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a complex, adaptive environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and translate detailed data into relevant information.
  • Ability to think in a creative and innovative manner and continually evolve with changing business needs and conditions.
